South Africa's first dedicated Ai Film Association.
SAAiFA is the home for South African filmmakers and creatives using artificial intelligence as a creative instrument. We exist to connect, support, recognise and grow this community.
Why SAAiFA exists.
South African Ai Film Association
Artificial intelligence is changing what it means to make a film. Tools that once required entire production companies, visual effects, animation, voiceover, music composition, colour grading, are now accessible to a single creator with a laptop and a vision.
South African storytellers are already using these tools. They are building worlds, crafting characters and telling stories that could not have existed five years ago. But there was no place to gather around this work. No association dedicated to this new form of cinema. No community to support the people making it.
SAAiFA, the South African Ai Film Association, was created to change that.
Recognition
Ai filmmaking deserves dedicated recognition, not as a novelty, but as a legitimate and growing art form.
Community
We are building South Africa's first professional network for Ai creatives. A space where filmmakers, animators, directors and Ai artists find each other, share their work and grow together.
Accessibility
Ai tools lower the barrier to filmmaking. SAAiFA celebrates this, welcoming students, animators, storytellers and first-time creators alike.
A community first.
SAAiFA is building South Africa's professional network for Ai creatives, and it is happening right now.
Founding Members get a public profile, a showcase video slot, the chance to earn from their film artwork and a seat at the table as we shape the direction, standards and culture of this association.
If you are making films, animations or any creative work with Ai, this community is for you.

First Mover Recognition

"Artificial intelligence is not replacing filmmakers. It is giving them new instruments. SAAiFA exists to recognise the human creative intelligence behind every Ai-assisted work."
The principles behind SAAiFA.
Human creativity leads
Ai is a tool, not an author. Every film shared through SAAiFA is the work of a human creative mind. The Ai is the instrument, not the artist.
South African stories matter
We are not just a technology association. We are a film association rooted in South African culture, identity and storytelling.
Community over competition
Filmmakers at SAAiFA support, critique and learn from each other's work, building a culture of mutual respect and shared craft.
Integrity in process
Originality, transparency and honest representation of Ai use are non-negotiable. We hold our members and ourselves to a high standard.
Growing the industry
SAAiFA is invested in the long-term growth of Ai filmmaking in South Africa, through resources, community and recognition.
Open to all screens
From phone-shot to studio-grade, from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. SAAiFA welcomes Ai films of all scales and budgets.
SAAiFA's first film competition.
In 2027 SAAiFA will open its first film competition for South African Ai filmmakers. Films will be screened by the community, scored by expert judges and decided by an industry jury, with a separate People's Choice public vote. Full details will be shared with members closer to the time.
